The purpose of the internship is to contribute to the development and updating of practical implementation resources on interventions supporting intraspecific crop diversity. These resources take the form of concise, practice-oriented implementation sheets of approximately 2–4 pages. Through focused research, evidence review and structured analysis, the intern will help translate relevant scientific and technical information into clear and accessible resources for practitioners, programmes and partner organizations. Under the supervision of the Responsible for Education and Training Programmes and the designated technical supervisor, the intern will:

• Review the intervention inventory and the existing descriptions, references and supporting materials for each assigned intervention.
• Conduct a focused literature review and source assessment for applied agrobiodiversity interventions, updating the reference base by prioritizing recent and authoritative practical guidance while retaining relevant foundational sources.
• Revise the short catalogue description in clear, concise English, ensuring that it is accurate and clearly linked to the use, access, management or enabling environment for intraspecific crop diversity.
• Draft an implementation sheet for each assigned intervention using the approved common template and the level of detail demonstrated by the completed examples, including an introduction, objectives, practical methodology or implementation steps, and references. 
• Perform quality control by verifying factual statements, citations, terminology and links; ensuring consistent citation and reference formatting; and checking hyperlinks or persistent identifiers where available.
• Revise drafts in response to technical and editorial feedback, following the agreed terminology, file-naming conventions and review process, and maintain an orderly record of sources, revisions and final versions.

Methodology

1.    Inception and template calibration

• Review the intervention inventory and a representative set of completed sheets.
• Agree with the supervisor on the standard structure, terminology, length, citation style, file-naming convention and review process.
• Prepare one pilot sheet. Revise it until the content and presentation are approved before drafting the full batch.
• If two interns are recruited, divide interventions by thematic category and use the same template, source log and terminology list.

2.    Work for each intervention

• Scoping. Clarify what the intervention covers, the main intended users, and its direct contribution to intraspecific crop diversity.
• Focused literature review. Review the sources already listed; identify missing, updated or more authoritative guidance; read the most relevant materials; and record complete bibliographic details and links.
• Description update. Revise the short inventory description in plain English, normally as a compact paragraph that states what the intervention is, how it works and why it matters.
• Sheet drafting. Develop the implementation sheet using the approved headings. At minimum, include an introduction, objectives, practical methodology or implementation steps, and references. Add other agreed elements only where useful and supported.
• Quality control. Check internal consistency, claims against sources, citation-reference matching, terminology, grammar, formatting and compliance with the template.
• Revision. Address consolidated comments from the supervisor and submit the clean final editable file and PDF.

3.    Research and drafting standards

• Prefer implementation guidance, manuals, technical guidelines, systematic or substantive reviews, and well-documented programme experience from recognized organizations and peer-reviewed sources.
• Distinguish general recommendations from evidence that is specific to a crop, country or programme. Avoid presenting a single case as universally applicable.
• Use original sources wherever possible. Do not cite a source that has not been consulted, and do not rely on a secondary citation when the original is accessible.
• Write for an international practitioner audience in clear English. Explain specialist terms and avoid unnecessary academic detail.
• Reflect the roles and knowledge of women and men farmers, Indigenous Peoples and local communities where relevant and supported by the evidence.
• Do not reproduce copyrighted text or images without permission. Record the source and reuse status of any proposed visual material.
